I got curious today,
and asked Dr. Joe if they had a scale
in the rehab center
where I'm doing my physical therapy
for my new knees.
I don't weigh myself often
or really at all. Weight is not a
reliable determinant
of health, so why bother?
Well, I bothered today because
my clothes have been annoyingly loose,
my bra straps are showing,
and my thighs are rubbing together because
my pants don't fit snugly.
I wanted an answer.
If the scale in the physical therapy office is correct,
I've lost 27 pounds since the left knee replacement
at the end of July.
Don't applaud.
I have mixed feelings about it.
Other people seem to believe that
losing weight is somehow a determinant
of health and happiness.
I am not other people.
